Browser document scanning SDK for JavaScript

SavyScan adds automatic and manual camera capture, page editing, and multipage PDF output to a web application without sending document pixels to a SavyScan server.

01 / Product fit

When a browser scanner is the right tool

Use a browser document scanning SDK when employees or customers need to capture readable paperwork inside an existing web workflow. SavyScan is designed for purchase orders, packing slips, invoices, receipts, field forms, and other page-shaped documents.

The host application controls authentication, storage, email, and business records. SavyScan controls the camera and page-editing experience, then returns image and PDF Blobs to the host application.

02 / Capabilities

From camera frame to multipage PDF

Capture

Automatic or manual

Detect document boundaries and capture when the frame is stable, while keeping a manual shutter available.

Edit

Correct every page

Adjust corners, correct perspective, rotate, apply enhancement modes, retake, delete, and revisit pages.

Complete

Return useful files

Assemble multiple corrected pages into a PDF Blob and return a JPEG preview to the host application.

03 / Compare approaches

SDK, file input, or native application?

ApproachBest forTradeoff
SavyScan browser SDKGuided capture embedded in a JavaScript web workflowRequires HTTPS, camera permission, and validation on target devices
Basic file inputSimple uploads with minimal implementationNo consistent live detection, crop, page editor, or capture guidance
Native scanning appDeep operating-system integrationUsers leave the web workflow or teams maintain native applications
Server-side image processingCentralized post-upload processingDocument pixels must leave the device before correction

04 / Privacy boundary

Local processing by default

Captured pages and generated PDFs remain in browser memory until the integrating application explicitly uploads, stores, or emails them. SavyScan licensing and privacy-safe diagnostics do not require document images or PDF contents.

Clear responsibility boundary. The customer application decides where completed files go and is responsible for its own storage, retention, access control, and regulatory requirements.

05 / Compatibility

Tested mobile-browser baseline

The complete capture, crop, rotation, multipage, PDF preview, and email-attachment workflow passed with real documents on iPhone Safari, iPhone Chrome, Samsung Chrome, and iPad Safari during the 0.5.0 beta qualification.

Browser camera behavior varies by device and operating-system release, so every customer should qualify its intended workflow and device mix during the free trial. See the compatibility evidence and requirements.

06 / Evaluation

What to verify during a trial

  1. Launch SavyScan from the intended HTTPS application and domain.
  2. Test automatic and manual capture with representative documents.
  3. Crop, rotate, enhance, retake, delete, and revisit pages.
  4. Build a multipage document and complete the scan.
  5. Preview the PDF and deliver it through the real upload or email workflow.
  6. Repeat on the Apple and Android devices the application supports.
